2021 – Year in recap

2021 was a year of success, learning and growth. We wanted to say a simple goodbye to this year and go into 2022 quiet, yet we know how hard we’ve worked to all of the below so let’s get loud with all of our success in 2021 and step into next year with confetti and a bottle of champagne.

January is a very special month for SEPA Cyber Technologies as it’s the month the company was registered. In 2021 we’ve celebrated our 3rd birthday with a big cake and balloons staying at a safe distance. We’ve also taken part in Reuters Next event and joined forces with Evrotrust Technologies to accelerate the digitalization of traditional banking, insurance, leasing, etc. services. At the end of January, we’ve officially announced the opening of our office in London.

We’ve started February with Mastercard Digital forum where we found many like-minded people. Our team worked hard to prepare and share not one but two use cases. We managed to open our office in Istanbul that led us to rapid growth and team expansion. Also, we put the red carpet on to open our office in USA that brought us many new opportunities.
As a special recognition, we were nominated by Forbes Bulgaria in the Business Awards 2021 and noted by Daily finance as Top Fintech Companies in Bulgaria (2021).

SEPA Cyber keeps riding the wave to become one of the 10 promising Bulgarian startups to watch in 2021 by EU Startups. Our team grew and we kept expanding our business with exciting projects.

Just 3 months into 2021 we announced MuSe with all its flexibility, diversity and accessibility. Our innovative solutions were chosen by Varchev Finance and what’s more our KYC solution went all the tests to be officially approved by Germany’s KJM for identity and age verification.

May was a month to celebrate SEPA Cyber’s pre-IPO valuation of 300 million euros by KPMG that bring us a step closer to our goal – to go public on the global stock market.
We’ve also started to lift the curtain over our next crypto project while still working hard to keep up with the governmental sector we serve proudly. Part of our commercial team went to Seamless Europe to exchange knowledge and build relations.
We thought May was a good month for us but it went to amazing after Vestbee listed us as one of CEE Fintech Startups of the month.

After all the reasons to celebrate in the past months, SEPA Cyber’s team thought June will be a bit slower but the rollercoaster of the fintech world is never asleep. MultiBank Group put their trust on to enrich their service portfolio and become a fully digital bank.
Our marketing and business development team shared another use case of how retail and fintech businesses are stronger together. Also, our HR team led us to become one of the 100 Top Employers in Bulgaria for 2021 by Career Show Index.

FinTech North ForumJuly – August

Summer was rising hot and we all wanted to have more time at the beach while our CEO took some time to share his vision for a safer tomorrow with FinTech North while our team was preparing our Stablecoin solution to be presented in the fintech world.
In August we shared our “Stablecoin is here to stay” white paper and our Marketing team went on a vacation. Meanwhile, we were noted as one of the top Payments and Fintech companies based in Bulgaria by Daily Finance.

SEPA Cyber’s focus was on our Istanbul office and building a strong team to take care of all Middle East projects. Meanwhile, our DevOps and Security teams worked closely with all the internal teams to renew our PCI DSS certificate. Cheers to all of you!

October started well with a simple, but much-needed new product – SMS Payment. This simple acquiring solution brought to some of our clients’ ease-of-use payment solution. As another addition to our portfolio, we’ve added as a service – EMI Consultancy.

November – December

All our teams were busy bees in the last two months of 2021.

We partnered with Cyrius to step into Brazil and Italy and closed a few exciting deals and innovative projects, we’ll announce in the upcoming months.
To end 2021 with confetti, we managed to become Visa Ready certified in the last days of December. SEPA Cyber’s participation in the Visa Ready program will aid us to develop, build and lounge more innovative payments solution in the upcoming year that meets Visa’s standards around security and functionality.

The above recap of 2021 sounds like 12 months of a honeymoon but we lost a lot too, we also learn a lot and we step in 2022 as a better company, as a closer team, as a fintech with bigger plans and ambitions.
